A Gallium coin?? We are probably not the first to make one, but most likely are the first to offer one for regular sale! As you may know though, Gallium has a problem with storage. It melts at 86 degrees F (30 Celsius) and will melt in your hand, on a warm day, and so on. When we first started making Gallium coins, the complete coin was molded using liquid Gallium metal. The coins are now struck with dies, but special care must be taken to prevent the coin from melting during the blanking and striking process.
Shipping is a problem with Gallium metal. It must be kept at room temperature or colder for it's entire journey to the buyer or it will be ruined by melting. For domestic USA buyers we will guarantee it's safe and intact arrival or we will provide a full refund. We will ship the coin with cold pack(s) and insulated packing materials to make sure it does not melt along the way. The extra cost of the shipping materials is included in the purchase price of the coin.
For international customers we CANNOT guarantee that the coin will arrive intact. International buyers must assume all risks for damage in transit. We can try our best, with lots of cold-packs and insulation, but with occasional customs delays, we have no control over how long it will stay in transit to you. If you are willing to take the risk, we will send one to you with the amount of packing we think will get the coin to you intact. Below is the Paypal shopping cart button for the Gallium coin sent to an international destination. The extra cost for international shipping and packing materials is included in that price, which is higher than the list price for the coin in the previous page you viewed. If you wish to have it shipped by overnight express, please email us for a shipping quote.
Now, once you receive it intact, you have a nice Gallium coin, and a lifetime of maintenance! You must be forever diligent that the coin never sees warm temperatures or it will melt. A warm day, your hand, your pocket, a hot car, a display case with a hot bright light, and many other situations will allow it to melt. We even had one partially melt under bright lamps when a coin was being photographed! Storage in a refrigerator or in a basement may be the safest bet, especially if you live in a warm climate.
So, with all this said, if you still want one of these coins, please be our guest! They have a very nice, shiny appearance and make a unique addition to any coin collection. Just don't hold it for more than a few seconds!
